Spring is in the air

I am writing this in the middle of a thunderstorm. It's storm and tornado season this time of year. I thought by moving from Texas to Georgia, I'd see a lot less tornado activity but it's almost more frequent. Besides the tornados, its one of my favorite times of the year.
Behind the Seams
I've been working on a puff quilt!!! I've been wanting to make one for many years and finally got a ton of older UFO's done, I feel like it was time for something new. I'll share more about the process soon, it's not yet done. This turned out to take longer than I expected but its fun and different. I haven't decided if I'm going to keep this one or list it... only because I may never make one again unless one of my daughters steals it.

UFO Feature
My current UFO project is finishing the Toes in the Sand quilt. I am so close, all I have left to do is bind it. I loved piecing and quilting this one. The rulers are a must though! When it came to quilting, I got most of the inspo from instagram. I still wanted to leave plenty of room for my freedom and getting more comfortable at coming up with designs.
Outside the Studio
Outside the studio has been a bit of a roller coaster. One of our rotty's was recently diagnosed with cancer. He recently had a leg amputated and is on a chemo therapy drug. He's such a strong boy and has recovered so well from surgery. The chemo won't cure him, we know this. We just hope it gives us more time with him as this is a very aggressive cancer. He is still rambunctious so there are no signs of him suffering or in pain. That's the best we can ask for.
Current Obsession
My current obsession is my seam guide. This little tool has gone unused for years! While piecing the puff quilt, I had to sew a scant of a quarter inch to add pleats. This came in handy to make sure I didn't end up sewing a quarter inch seam. Otherwise when I attached the columns, you would see the seam line. Oppps. #lessonslearned
